Day 4-A Shovel at Last

Finally Nook was selling a shovel. I still don't have an axe or a slingshot, but thank goodness I finally got my shovel. I was not a happy camper without it.

Wifi was messed up early in the day. I kept getting an error message about some "unfathomable reason I can't go to another town" and Greg was getting the same message if he tried to visit my town. We finally reset the modem and router, turned off the Wiis and ate some lunch. Afterward it worked fine.

Sahara was in my town today, but I couldn't complete her task of getting three old wallpapers from people, so I didn't get anything from her. Just like I didn't get anything from Pascal. While I think it's sort of frustrating, I know that the game will last longer because of this stuff. Hurray for long lasting appeal.

Last night I enjoyed (well, enjoy is probably a strong word, more like tolerated) a cup of coffee with Phyllis.

Day 3 - Making me Angry

So, this is day three and once again Nook is only selling a fishing pole, a watering can, and a net. Three days and no shovel? No axe and no slingshot I can take, but not having a shovel is killing me. And of course, Greg's Nook's didn't have a shovel either, so I couldn't go buy one from him. He has all the luck. He found a mushroom worth 10,000 bells-I found 3 skinny mushrooms (300 bells) and a lamp. I don't even feel like playing today I'm so disappointed. The more I play, the more disappointed I am. Nintendo really messed up this time. Next time they have over 2 years to develop a game, they better put more work into it than this. Same graphics (slightly updated), same music, same characters, a cheap "city" that doesn't really add much to the game, still nothing to do at night...I could go on, but I'll stop. I'll still play the game, but the magic of this game is gone for me already. I might as well be playing Wild World.

Day 2-Not Much Going On

Well, since Nook's Cranny was carrying the same tools as yesterday-fishing pole, net, and watering can, there wasn't a whole lot of new stuff I could do today. I hope I get a shovel tomorrow and a sling shot would be nice because I've been seeing balloons with gifts float by and there is nothing I can do about it. Greg got a shovel, so he came over and dug up a few fossils for me-I got a fern and a T-Rex tail. I didn't like the furniture in my shop either-a neutral corner? Yuck. There was a harp, but I let Greg buy it. Purrl gave me a robo-TV, so that is about the only piece of furniture in my house right now.

In town I got a blue bunny balloon from Phineas. I also got the invitation to Redd's from Purrl, so I went in there and bought a Fine Painting (but later found out it was a forgery). I learned disappointment from Dr. Shrunk and I joined the Happy Room Academy. I wonder why Lyle hates it so much? He liked being a sleezy insurance salesman?

It's Here!! City Folk Day 1

OK, so I got up and went to Best Buy this morning just as they opened to get Animal Crossing City Folk. They hadn't even put the game out on the shelf yet, they had to call back to someone in the warehouse to bring it out (meanwhile, they had about 30-40 Wiis and WiiFits out and it was like a shark feeding frenzy). So, Greg and I each got one and we have spent just about all day playing!

On first thought-I wasn't that impressed. The graphics are improved, but on first notice that is really it. I am little annoyed that the music is, for the most part, exactly the same as Wild World, but that is pretty minor. The controls did take some getting used to and while I thought I would be a nunchuck and wiimote player, I actually like playing with just the wiimote sometimes. I still go the nunchuck when I'm inside, but I think both ways are convenient actually.

So, I got my town and my character (Kiwii from Dragon) that I wanted by using a face guide I found online. Your town comes with six villagers to start with-I have Antonio, Tabby, Alice, Drake, Gaston, and....crap-a cat that I've had in Wild World before, but I can't recall her name.

I chose my house based on how convenient it was for all the town stuff. My house is near Nook's, the Museum, and the Town Hall. Only the tailor is separated, but it's just across the bridge.

I did a lot of bug hunting and fishing today even though in November, the bugs are rather limited. I couldn't really do any landscaping because Nook didn't have a shovel today, but I got a pole, net, and watering can.

All in all, I am really enjoying the game, even if there are some disappointing aspects. Sometimes I find it hard to believe that they spent as much time as they did on creating this (or maybe they didn't and that's why it has some shortfalls). Still, Animal Crossing is my favorite game and I will enjoy playing this one as much as I enjoyed the others.

Now...if only I could get Bob to move into my town.
